Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

Todd, can we do this with our property?

Today, I received a call from one of my clients that owns a piece of property with a rather large barn on it. They have owned the home for many years and have paid down the mortgage considerably, but they would rather not have to pay it at all, since they are on a fixed income now.

Since they have this large barn on their property, but no animals, so their question was it they could use this to store PODS or RVs for others and make money from it, to help offset the cost of their mortgage.

I personally thought it was a great idea and since it can't be seen from the street, I didn't think you would have to get a business license, but I did tell them they should make a call to the county or city anyway. The only issue I saw was if something such as a fire should happen, then their insurance may not cover it.

I'm thinking about when I get my next house on property that I should let people store stuff there and have them pay my mortgage. People think of some amazing things when they want to make money.

Boy, do I love America!
