How to stop your dog from ruining your landscape during a sale of a home

Many of you remember about 6 months ago when a client of mine was nice enough to grace our family with a Australian Shepard, Sneaky Neighbor Dog (Golden Retriever) mixed puppy. This dog has really become part of the family, but has recently discovered that digging is fun!

I didn't know how to break the dog of this habit and was starting to get worried that I wasn't going to have a yard to work with when the puppy was done! Then a friend of mine told me how to stop this, every time they dig, fill the hole back in with the dirt she took out up to about 2 inches from the top, then put a layer of her poop in the hole and then finish covering it up. The dog will never dig there again because they won't want to run in to that. Eventually she will get the hint that digging is bad and will just stop doing it.

Here is the good news, she hasn't started digging in the holes where she was previously digging where I had filled it in. The bad news is I seem to have nice new holes in other places. So hopefully she will figure out that the reason I'm filling them in with her poop is because I don't want her digging. I still can't figure out how she is doing it without anyone catching her. That must be the sneaky neighbor dog in her.
