Sometimes one person really can make a difference and that is the case with Jim Cox the president of Beaverton’s JCI Marketing Group. You see, a few years ago Mr. Cox created a “Kid’s Kit” that helped parents create a kit that could be used by the police to help them find their child if the child should ever become lost or kidnapped.

Well, a couple weeks ago, Mr. Cox donated 1900 of these safety kits to the Beaverton Police to give away at events and other local happenings such as Child Seat safety checks, concerts in the park, the Beaverton Library and at the PAL (Beaverton Police Activity League) events.

So, thank you Jim Cox for being such a great citizen and helping make Beaverton, Oregon, a place that we are proud to call home.

One of the biggest concerns for families in and around Beaverton, Oregon, when they are looking to buy a home is “How safe is Beaverton?” Well, I personally feel Beaverton, Oregon, real estate is pretty safe, but what about when you aren’t around?

This is where the City of Beaverton police has really stepped it up. I always used to hate going on vacation prior to buying an alarm for my house and even then I still get a feeling in the pit of my stomach from time to time about all my stuff sitting back at home without me and really just hoping it is still there when I get home. (I had my home broken in to when I was in college, so I still never really got over that.)

So, how is the City of Beaverton helping me feel more at ease? They are starting a new program called “Vacation Check”. This is where they drive by your house from time to time, just to make sure everything is alright while you area away. The only thing is that you have to submit your request at least 72 hours prior to going on vacation and the vacation can’t be for less than 7 days and can be no longer than 3 weeks.

The Beaverton Police department says thought there is no guarantee that a break in won’t still occur, they do feel that this will reduce the chances of a citizen who is a resident of Beaverton, Oregon, will have less of a chance of becoming a victim thanks to this program. I personally feel that this program will help Beaverton, Oregon, real estate in the form of home values, because security really is a major component in value.

Even though a buyer may offer the most up front, there could be things that pop up in the inspection and having an agent that knows what is important, and what isn’t, in the negotiations can mean the difference between you paying for everything to be repaired and giving up thousands or just repairing what is required by the bank.
