Twice now in the past year
I’ve have seen the heart break of a potential client moving
to Beaverton
Oregon. They
move here without
actually investigating Beaverton and the
surrounding areas of Tigard,
Portland,
and
Hillsboro where homes can still
be rather expensive.
Now, home prices have
dropped
in Oregon just as they have in other places around the country, but
what people
are finding out as they move from a place
where they can buy a 4
bedroom 2.5
bath home for under $100,000, that the same home here is over $250,000.
It is
just heartbreaking when they find out that they can’t even
afford to rent here
because they didn’t have a job lined up either.
One
of the things I do to help people succeed in their relocation is I
help
them find a job here in Oregon.
I give them the websites, and even in
some
cases, the contact information of the Human Resources department at
many of the
larger companies in Oregon that I happen to have sold homes to in the
past.
I’m
here to help families home, not keep them out, and the
only way I can do
that is if you call and let
me help you in your relocation every step
of the
way. One of the first things I’m going to have you do before
your big move here
is to send you a link to a site that has a cost
of
living calculator, so you can
check out what you would need to make here to
keep your present lifestyle where you are at now.

This is a nice post . I like the idea that you offer to help them in their job search. Good luck.
That's got to be extermely helpful to those moving to Beaverton. I like your new pic. Very catchy! But I liked the one of your family too.
Todd - What a great idea to provide job links and the cost of living calculator. If I have anyone relocating to your area, I will make certain you are at the top of their must contact list.
Todd that is a nice service to provide, and the preemptive attempt at helping families should bring people into a state of reality before they come rather than after it's too late.
TC,
Once again you come through...you do it all...the Bat Man of Beaverton...!!! :) Thanks, Fran
Todd
I would think it can get pretty crazy buying something and not even checking it all out first. It's good they have you
Tom
Good post Todd, keep up the good work.
Todd --- great post --- WOW -- you help them get a job as well as prepare them in advance for what to expect when they get to your area. You are my "dream" Realtor. I have some of my agent/owners that are like you, but I would love it if they all were.
Gita - People don't realize how hard it can be coming to a new area and I want them to have a job before they get here or they are doomed.
Barb - That was a logo I had on Activerain for about a year and I have been doing some experiments lately with the family photo and now trying this again. Last year this logo was getting me leads 3 to 1 over my photo.
Judy - Thank you! I just find it sad when someone is expecting the same home, same rent same thing they came from and then get here to find out they need to make 3 times what they did in their home state to have the same lifestyle.
Steve - That is what I want, I want them to enjoy the state, not start going in to survival mode the day they get here.
Fran - My son would love to have Batman as a dad!
Tom - I'm amazed at the impulsiveness of some people. I just worry about them when reality hits them.
Connie - Thank you.
Mama Liz - Teach them to be! They have never been taught that with great service come great reward... Especially to the heart!
