Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

As hurricane season approaches blood is needed now more than ever: Donate now in Beaverton, Oregon

I am proud to say, since I have been able to start donating blood when I was 18, I’ve reached the two gallon mark and hope to one day reach the 3 gallon mark.

I think it’s a great thing todonate blood. Heck, afterward you get free cookies and juice. (If you have met me, you know I like my cookies and juice.) But, the more important thing is by donating blood you are saving a life! The hurricane and tornado seasons are fast approaching, and with that comes injuries that require life saving blood infusions.

Donate to the Red Cross

Your one donation could be the difference between life and death, especially if you have one of the more rare blood types. So, think about how you can contribute to the world and donate an hour of your time and a quart of your blood. You never know, the life you may save could be your own.

Here are the blood donation centers in Beaverton,Oregon, for this upcoming couple weeks. (Click on links for map) To save time call 503-528-5892 and make an appointment (available 8am-8pm M-F)

Thanks for spreading the word as I'm in hurricane country. It doesn't displace us often as we are mid state. But it will get nasty!

This is a good reminder! Giving blood takes so little effort and does such wonders,

Wow, the 2 gallon mark that's incredible. We are having a blood drive at our office in Independence Ohio on June 12, 2009. Every little bit helps!!! Have a great week!

I am also a regular donor - it's the one thing that I do and feel good about.  Here's my rub:  I often fail the iron test.  As a 115 lb. vegetarian that's a tough one for me so I usually take iron supplements during the week before I donate.  Last Friday, even that wasn't enough to pass the test.  They tell me that I'm not anemic, just that the government says that you must be above a certain level to donate.  I wish the government would get out of the business of _______________________________(fill in the blank.)

There is always a need for blood, but hurricane season is fast approaching and I have so many online friends that this could affect. I don't want to lose any of you, just because someone didn't take the hour to donate.
