Beaverton Oregon Shopping: Cedar Hills Crossing

Beaverton has many great stores and many of those stores are right in Cedar Hills Crossing. Now, if you used to be from this area and are wondering where this mall is, this is the old Beaverton Mall with a new facelift and boy did the new anchor stores help!

As the old Beaverton Mall, it was starting to look old and run down. Shopping was down as well and there were many vacancies. But, then they remodeled it, brought in some new stores and Cedar Hills Crossing was born. It really has brought new life to the area. Home prices in the area started to rise, people started showing up at the mall, and what few gangs we do have also stopped showing up.

Also, because of the new Cedar Hills Crossing, the world’s biggest book store, Powell’s Books, put a store in Cedar Hills Crossing. Powell’s is well known in Portland and around the world for being the world’s largest book store, taking up two city blocks in Portland. Bringing a store out to Beaverton was a great boost to the area, but a real hit to my budget as both my wife and daughter are avid readers.

There is also a new movie theater behind the mall and boy the stadium seating is awesome! There is no problem seeing over the person in front of you and the seats are so comfortable, some of the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in at a theater.

So, if you are looking for a new and hip mall or just a place to go on a date and see a movie, I suggest you check out the remodeled Cedar Hills Crossing.

Now for a little bit a history: Cedar Hills Crossing / Beaverton Mall used to be the site of the airport. As the area grew, the airport was taken out to put in the mall. At the time of destruction, the Beaverton airport was the oldest operating airport in the state. (Information and picture courtesy of City of Beaverton website)

Shoping malls are no exception, just like almost everything else... keep up with current trends and consumer's taste or go dark.

Now I'm going for a frappucino at starbucks!

Great use for the old airport land. We turned our old airport into an industrial park many years back.

This looks like a nice mall that has added a lot to the community, Todd.

It looks great! I lived in Beaverton, not far from this location, from age 5-10. I remember the old airport before the Beaverton Mall was built.

Todd, a great localism post. I, of course, like most women, love to shop.  The bit  about ther airport history was a nice touch.

I love reading and book stores so much that I zoned in on that and didn't realize there was more shopping even available.

It really is amazing seeing the old pictures of the airport and then drive over there now and try to picture the airport there. It certainly has grown a lot in that area and I can't imagine anything to big landing there.
