Great post. I love giving blood. There s something empowering and great feeling about being there and even potentially saving the life of a complete stranger. Everyone should do this, without excuse.

I give as often as allowed.  It's great, because it's benevolent.  YOu're saving lives.  It's replenishable and the $ stays in your pocket.  What you lose will be replenished and someone else truly gains.

One of my proudest moments is when the Red Cross gave me a 5-gallon pin, Todd. They included a "sample" of the people who had benefited. No easier way to help someone else!

Todd,

Great post.

I can't help but think about my brother Joe who at the first of this year received a pancreas and liver transplant. Joe's great now better than he's been in 40 years,

Blood is such a simple gift and you don;t have to die for it! If some people can be so gennorous at such a tradgic point in there lives, giving blood seems so simple!

Todd, this is a great reminder for all; but, since I had hepatitis, I can not give blood.

What a great idea to remind us all and our readers to give blood.  Ok so it kind of sounds like a vampire but I am a bit banana's.

Seriously - this is  a great service.

Todd --- you are so right --- it is critical to give blood and as you say so well, the life you save may be your own. Thanks.

HI Todd,

I wish I was more brave, but everytime I see a needle, I pass out. I'm too squimish to give blood, and I am sorry for that. I know how important it is, maybe one day I will be more brave, but today is not that day.

Hi Todd!
How I would love to donate blood...unfortunately I am one of those chronically anemic people. Darn it anyway! I so admire those who give.

My... I haven't given blood in a long time, so next time I will have to slow down and donate some. Good Reminder to share with others and I am surprise by the comments above how many give often. That is also very nice to read.

It really is something that is easy to do and only takes about an hour to an hour and a half. But, the thing you are doing for someone else could be there for a years.
