I have to admit I didn't know much about Utah until we went last month to pick up our family pet. But, what I discovered was a state with an amazing history and a historical market pretty much every exit.
While waiting for Athena to be caught, (Yes she excaped) we were told it was going to be an hour to an hour and half later than we thought it was going to be before we could pick up Athena. So, we could see the St. George Temple from the freeway and since we decided we had some time, we should go check it out.
WOW! I was amazed at the history of this temple. I just always assumed with the Mormon church and its history in Utah and Salt Lake that the Salt Lake Temple was the first. But in reality the St. George temple was the 3rd, but was actually finished long before the Salt Lake temple in Salt Lake City Utah.
Want to find out the history behind the Oregon trail and the history of Utah, I suggest you visit one of the visitors centers at one of these temples. They won't do anything other than educate and boy did I get an education!

Todd, the architecture on the temple is phenomenal.
Todd: I'm laughing so hard... What an adventure. Athena escapes St. George! Mormon's are amazing record keepers. I've enjoyed a few of their libraries etc. Fun post...
A doctor I know almost moved out there, but the rule is....if you aint one of them, then you're ostracized....pretty "homer" crowd.
St George has grown so much it is not completely Mormon anymore.
When I visited St. George a couple of years ago, this was a must see. I loved reading the history of this church, it was hard to miss!
Make this a great week,
Paul
Todd, I've been to Utah several times but only to hike. I need to see some of the other areas next time.
Todd- The St George Temple is one of the most beautiful of all of the temples especially for its rich history and heritage. Just to imagine the labor and dedication that went into building the 3rd temple in the world right in St George and now they dot the entire earth. But in those days, can you just imagine how long it took to build this temple. I lived in Utah and one of our drives to California from Provo would take us through St George. I marveled at the architecture but also felt blessed to know hands and heart full of love built these temples in those days.
Larry- It is not that way and I don't know anyone in Utah that does not welcome non members with open arms.
It was amazing to find out the history of this building while waiting for Athena (Our new pet pig) but Larry, not once did they ask if we were members, they just asked where we were from and if we had any questions. Not once did I see anyone making people feel like an outsider, I found it to be one of the most friendly places I've ever been. (Even to non-members)
