It
was 20 years ago or so,
since I last remember you, the lions,
at our Oregon Zoo and I
have to
say
“Welcome Back”! Monday, we got to go to the Oregon Zoo
with my family,
one of
the privileges of home schooling our kids. They were showing off their
new
exhibit the “Predators
of the Serengeti”
and the Lions were
certainly the
big show!
They looked so proud
perched on their rock. They almost seemed to be
posing for
the camera at times. Along with the lions, we also got to see the wild
dogs and
a few other animals like the Cheetah, Zebra, Elephants and even the
Giraffe. As
always, the zoo was a wonderful time, but because it was opening month,
they
had some special shows going on.
Here
are some videos from the
“Birds of Prey” show.
I have to say, had I not ducked and missed a
couple good
videos, I would have had a true 3D shot of me getting hit in the head
by a hawk
or two. (But, I did love the seats we had, here is a video.)
So, if you are close by,
come see the newest exhibit at the Oregon
zoo
and
enjoy the learning experience about these big cats. It was just amazing
and we
are glad to have you back lions, you were missed. (Next year, the new
primate
exhibit!)

©2009 Todd Clark - Hear me ROAR! It has been 20 years since I last remember you… Welcome back (The Oregon Zoo)

Love the Portland Zoo, can't wait to take my kids to go see the new additions.
I do enjoy the Zoo and the animals I just wish they had a bit more space to roam.
I was in my 20s when I went to my first zoo...Washington DC. I was like a kid and enjoyed it so much. I went often while living in the area. Luckily you ducked as that hawk look like it could have hit you....
Hi Todd..I have been to the Oregon Zoo,many times as a child..lots of found memories.
Cheers, thanks for sharing
PS: Gotta go and get packed for my trek to Rain Camp, we're leaving tomorrow for Seattle. :O))
Todd -
These videos are priceless....a true benefit of homeschooling. Wish we'd been able to do it.
Looks like these shots could be for the Natonal Geographic Channel. Too cool.
Todd - I have not been to the zoo in years either. Maybe not quite 20 years, but still a lot of years. Thanks for sharing the videos with us.
Todd --- I love the zoo --- looks like your family had a great time.

I love zoos; I have to ask; did you also go to the zoo to show your kids that the animals are well treated after that guy confronted you at the circus?
Todd - Looks like there have been some changes at the Portland Zoo since I last was there. I believe it has to have been at least 25 years. They had lions when I was there.
Every time I pop back over you're off doing something else. Quite the "man about town", I'd say. With the kids along, of course...
The sad part is I remember when the zoo used to let you feed the elephants and the Giraffe, boy do I miss those days.
