I thought I would never own a GPS. gosh I didn't need it. You see I used to own my own courior business and thought GPS for the lost! Still realized that when I left my own area that OK, maybe it would be nice, but could and never would justify the cost. Well, then I started to buy them to lend to clients who were new to the area, still never having used on myself. Ended up giving the ones I bought for my clients to my parents who were always calling not knowing where something was or where they were.

Well, today I've decided that I will keep this one for myself. You see my credit union was having a contest that if you followed them on Twitter, you could win prizes like a GPS, well guess who won today by following the best bank credit union you could ever be with? Yep it was me, by following First Tech Credit Union in Beaverton, Oregon.
How cool is this, by just following another local business, that I happen to use and love anyway, I won a GPS that I will put in my brand new Jeep and plan to take a few more trips out of town to try it out. (Still don't need it locally)

Very cool! There is a point here, too...social media marketing is a two way street.
That's great!!! I'm with you, I don't use GPS because I grew up memorizing streets and their order, I feel like I can't use a GPS, that's cheating. I do travel a lot with the kids sporting events and will use the Navigation feature on my cell phone and have come to like that a lot, maybe one day I will break down and get the other kind, but for now, I'm good.
Todd, My Tom-Tom GPS has saved my butt-butt many times while showing properties in outlying areas! I am one of the geographically challenged! You may grow to enjoy it and appreciate it!
That is so cool Todd. I can't imagine my life without a gps anymore because it is such a huge time saver.
Todd- wonder if First Tech Credit Union is blogging about their Twitter success?? We've owned several GPS"s over the years, including a few for our boats and love them. Even though I know my way from Orlando to Delray Beach, one came in handy several years ago when we were trying to dodge the heavy fires that were in the area. We were never in danger but I felt better knowing that we had the GPS to show us alternate travel routes. Enjoy your new toy!!!
Todd ---how cool is that!!!!! I don't have a GPS either, but I bet it will be fun.

I never win anything; I even had a guy hang up the phone at a radio station when he had a trivia contest. He had a gas question and I was explaining 2,2,4, diethyl, methyl, pentane to him (gas) and he thought I was boring. My ex-wife did say I was full of useless information. Perhaps I could use one of those when I come to visit my friend Bill at Centerpointe research in Beaverton,OR. All things aside GPS devices are amazing; Lars and I used to use one when we were on a team: it was a portable one.
OK, huge, cool update. I was going to pick up the GPS tomorrow and they just emailed me saying they didn't know what kind of GPS I would like and decided, lets just give him a $200 gift card instead.

Todd,
This is great! Now you have a choice. Personally, I love my GPS. I'm pretty good in Corvallis, but when I travel outside the area the GPS helps. You do have to update the software, though.
I think First Tech is a great group of people. I don't have an account there, but have met quite a few of their senior staffers. Very nice people.
Todd - Congrats on winning a new GPS. I never thought I would need or use GPS, but my husband has it in his car and I must admit it is a nice feature.
Hi Todd ~ This just keeps getting better and better. Way to go! I'm trying to figure out who to give my GPS to since I'm getting my Droid tomorrow. I've only used the GPS a handful of times - and it weirds me out how I lose touch with where I am while I'm following its directions.
Credit unions are the best. I love mine.

I thought the same and after I also won a Tom Tom at a training session I don't think I Would like to lose it.
My husband was a non-believer, too. That was until the day that he was taking some potential clients to see several houses his company had done. He got mixed up going from the first to the second--while they drove along behind him. He felt like an idiot and called from the 2nd house to tell me to go ahead and order one for him (which I had been wanting to do for a long time)!
Todd, I fought getting a GPS for the longest time because I know my area pretty well. But it sure comes in handy when you're showing property in less familiar places. Make sure you get a GPS with that $200 gift card. Congrats!!
Todd,
Congrats on the GPS. I love love love my GPS,,,,when it works ;) Its been very helpful for me traveling throughout the Wasatch Front. Love your post, glad your feeling better. Can't wait to head back to the Northwest for Thanksgiving.
That's a great fringe benefit of twitter Tod - congrats! - I know we've connected with alot of local people we never would have because of twitter.
as for a gps, Jeff ( aka Inspector gadget :) loves his Garmin - however growing up and going to school in "the region" NW Indiana where we now live - I correct Jack n Jill ( our GPS navigational voices) all the time as I know shortcuts they do not!!
you will probably find the same to be true in your area - you will know better info than the gps at times.
But taking it on vacations will be so much fun because you can look up local spots to eat etc... easily and get directions!
Enjoy
Sincerely,
Grace
Todd,
Excellent updated news. I think, btw, the closing gift you give to clients is awesome. Very useful.
