Please be a organ donor

I would like to say thank you to one young gentleman, who I never met. He was an organ donor.

This young gentleman unfortunately, had to die in a motorcycle accident. But thanks to his generosity, my father has been part of my life for 17 more years than he would have been if that young man didn't put a "D" on his driver's license.

Eighteen years ago my dad was a teacher and cut himself on something, and contracted hepatitis C, which killed
his liver. My best friend was dying! Then we got the news, in mid-December 1990 that they had found a donor. This has given me 17 more years with my best friend and hopefully many more.

So please take the one second that it takes to put a check mark by the "Yes, I want to be an organ donor" on your drivers license. You never know who you might save.

Got the D on my new license as I have in the past - although there is not much too donate after but they are welcome to anything to save someone else

Thank you both for being organ donors, if you are ever in a situation that I hope neither of you are ever in, your body will make another family happy.

Hi Todd,

I just came across your post.  I am a living donor, meaning I donated a kidney to my brother 4 years ago.  There is no better feeling and no greater gift that I could ever give.  I'm glad you have your Dad.

Jen - thank you and I'm sure your brother is pretty happy with your decision as well. The world is a better place for what you have done.

I am an organ recipient and have "donor" notated on my license.  Thank you for pushing this issue.
