I sure hope you have insurance,
because I'm about to volunteer! I won't lie, I'm not the
biggest handyman in the world. OK, I'm not handy at all, I'm so-so with
cars, but give me a hammer or a saw and someone may just get hurt.
But, I needed to give
back and today I volunteered anyway and in a couple weeks I will be
helping a family with their Habitat for Humanity home. I'm
just hoping they have insurance, because I'm pretty sure someone is
going to get hurt.
For those of you who have
done this before is their such things as a supervisor position?
Where the only person who could get hurt is me with a giant paper cut
while holding up the blue prints for everyone to look at?
I'm going to give this a
shot, but I will warn this nice family that I'm one of
those that does his own home repairs and then has my general contractor
come back two days later and fix my repairs at an additional cost.
I do think Habitat for
Humanity is a great program and it gives a lot of people who would have
a chance at home ownership a chance at the American dream
with just a little sweat equity and a lot of help from friends and
family. Maybe, just maybe I will learn something from this other than
"Ouch, that hurts"

Ewwww...how about you hand them the bricks, boards, nails...alphabetize the screws...go get lunch....or like the 3 little pigs...the straw house mau easily be blown over...:) ! Enjoy your "work out" I am sure the recipients are grateful...!
Hi Todd- I applaud you. Steve and I are long-time Hopebuilders with Habitat for Humanity. They are a wonderful organization and I know that your work, whatever it may be, will be of value --Sara in Madeira, today.
Todd - We get involved in the spring and have for years. Interestingly the group has opted for refurbing REOs cause they are cheaper than building anew. It is satisfying work.
Hi, Todd. You sure are a great role model for your children.I'm sure you'll receive as much as you give, too.
GREAT graphic!
Todd - I've got no answers for you, but I do have a hearty pat on the back. This is awesome! I love volunteerism (that's what my Measured Impact intiative is all about)! My already high opinion of you just went through the roof....just be careful out there...ok buddy?
Todd,
Good Luck! I am so NOT handy in that department but your support is probably needed!
Todd you will be fine......and great job donating your time for a great cause.....and just think you can tell all your clients when they ask about your scars how you got them .....helping someone in need......peace zane
Todd - You'll do awesome! My husband is typically handy, but one time we did have to call the "professional" in. A $20 plumbing issue turned into a $500 issue, but he tried his best to fix it and I'm sure you'll do your best as well. Good Luck!
Todd, Habitat for Humanity is a great opportunity to give to the community and there are so many rewards when you volunteer! We decorated a house for Christmas for a family for our Windermere Community Service Day that included the tree, decorations and twinkling lights all around! The surprised looks on the young ones faces was PRICELESS!
OK, everyone who thought I could do this with no problem, here is my last attempt at fixing stuff. (AND YES, THAT REALLY IS MY FINGER!)
