The Zoo Lights are big and bright and on the move!

This years zoo lights were even bigger and better than last years and as an added bonus they had a game for kids. The told the kids there were 6 peacocks throughout the park and if they found all six and came to the zoo store they would get a prize. This kept the kids interested the who time.

It was a little disappointing that a lot of the animals were blocked off to the public especially the night time animals that are a lot more active at night. I would have loved to see some of those knowing they were going to be more active. The baby elephant was out and ready to play, he certainly didn't think it was bed time. But, the kids enjoyed hunting for the peacocks because they knew when they left they were going to get a prize.

We did find all six and the kids got a piece of fudge for their hard work and they couldn't have been happier. Here are some videos from last night and I think the first one is my favorite just because of the sound of an old train.

Hi Todd, The videos are cool.  Is this at the Portland Zoo?  I love it there.

Todd - I like the train the best too. Was it a ride or just a display? It reminded me of Edaville Railroad in Carver MA, with their festival of lights.

I like the eagle.  This is a great festival do you also go over to peacock lane and the grotto?

Hey Todd....way cool. I didn't know other cities (seriously) at the Zoolights! We have them here as well. When we took our grandchildren, it was funny 'cause the giraffe talked - and you could tell them your child's name, so when the giraffe talked, he mentioned them by name. It was so fun to watch their expressions. LOVE our vids...;-)

Merry Christmas

Great post! There is a contest here in Salt Lake City with the Zoo lights. They are hoping to have the millionth customer for the year some time in the next couple of weeks. They will be giving prizes to the winner.

Todd, I am with you on the animals being put away. This is a holiday tradition for my family. My college aged brother goes with my husband, the kids, and I. We make an evening out of it with dinner on the town first. :-) Love the Oregon Zoo!

We were just talking about going out and taking some night photos of the lights. Thanks for the examples. I like the train the best also.

This is the Oregon Zoo and it seems to get bigger every year and we can't wait to see what they have done each year.
