HOA risk management and your pool

Today we got a lock on our pool area, after I pointed out that the neighboring condos didn't have a pool and families were walking over and using ours.

The reason this was so important to do is if one of the kids had gotten hurt, or worse drowned, our HOA and its insurance policy would have been held liable for someone who didn't even have the right to use it.

So if you are a member of an HOA, please make sure you know who is using your facilities before it is too late.

Remember those summer nights of long ago when after midnight on a starry night someone said hey let's go for a swim. Then everyone stripped down to their unmentionables scaled a 6' high chain link fence and jumped in the neighborhood pool? whoo hoo

Childhood memories

I've been to a few communities while out taking photos that didn't have any locks on the pool area.  They had child safety features for getting in the gate, but no locks.  Anyone can go there and take a dip!  Not a good thing.

Mary and Becky - Were out by the pool and someone gave their 4 year old the key to go out to the pool, by themselves. I just couldn't believe that as a parents someone could do that.

Randy - Nope, never did it - LOL (The lake - maybe, possibly - no pictures to prove it though)
