There are rooms for young kids from age two through about age 10. Water discover, clay room, on stage, veterinarian room, and even a construction room where kids can start with blue prints and then build their own structure.

My two youngest thought it was a blast and really didn’t want to leave, but we were coming up on closing time and had been there for four hours when we finally left. If you have kids between the ages of two and 10, I would suggest this to you. There is a cost, but I’m not sure this still applies, but when my oldest was going when she was younger you could check out a card at the library that got you in for free for the day.

That looks like a great place...another wonderful local post by you! Keep it up!
We sure could something like that for the young ones here Todd. What a great local venue!
A few years ago we took our grandson for a train ride: Seattle to Portland, and then rode the commuter trin out to the children's museum. Fun time in Portland. We'd do it again if we had another grandchild.
Todd,
I am really enjoying your series...and I really enjoy watching your kids learn. I believe you homeschool. I did when mine were little as well.. :)
As a fellow homeschool family, we used the children's museum like a classroom. There is an organization called Association of Science-Technology Centers (astc.org). You can purchase a membership that is good for science centers, children's museums, etc. all over the country. Since I lived in a metro area, there were lots of these centers available to visit. The membership cost was very reasonable and we were able to go to at least one center a month. In the winter, we visited a little more often. We even visited some of the centers in other states while on vacation. Definitely worth the money.
I used to take my girl, when she was young, to the Children's Museum in NYC all the time. Geared towards the younger set, children's museums are such a great experience for them.
I enjoy looking at your reflections of Beaverton...

Todd - My boys love museums and the next time we visit our family and friends in Chicago we plan on going to a few.
Kids love those places. I used to take my daughter to the childrens museum in New Orleans years ago. I don't even know if it's still open since Katrina. Shame on me.
Todd, What a great place. Thanks for sharing. My kids when younger, loved these places.
The kids seem to have a blast every time we go, even though it is designed for younger kids even my 12 year old daughter loved the clay room.
