This year’s fundraiser for the Oregon Ferret Shelter maybe
the most important yet! Weasels Dancing
in the Park is not only to help fund
the Oregon Ferret Shelter, a “NO
KILL” Ferret Shelter
in Oregon City, but I
believe we will also be talking about our support AGAINST HR 669.
I’ve been a supporter and volunteer for the Oregon Ferret shelter for many years now. (16, I think) But, my wife and I think that this is for a very good cause. I think “NO KILL” shelters are the only way pets should be handled. Too many families are forced to give up their furry family members because of relocation issues. (Just in case you don’t know California has a law making Ferrets illegal)
Now, this is where HR 669 comes in and why we are so against it! HR 669 outlaws basically all ownership of pets in the United States and then it will later determine which pets are exceptions to the rule. Do you want the government telling you what kind of pets you can or can’t own? (I certainly don’t)
Now, as for the fun! The Weasels Dancing in the Park is an event that has been held every year to help raise money for the Ferret Shelter. There is music, games, and even an auction with some seriously great stuff at rock bottom auction deals and ALL the money goes to the shelter!
The music is donated (by me) and the items for the auction were donated by many different companies. In the past there has even been a veterinarian on site giving free examinations of your furry little friends. Even if you aren’t a ferret owner, don’t hesitate to come by as many people are curious and most everyone there will gladly answer your questions for you about their furry family members.
Hope to see you there this Sunday August 22nd from 10am-4pm at Hammerle Park in West Linn, Oregon. Make sure you bring water for you, your family, and your pets. Don’t forget to pack a lunch as this is an all day event and though at some past events we have had a BBQ it is never guaranteed as it is done by a 3rd party volunteer.

Todd - What an excellent event and I absolutely don't want anyone telling me what types of pets I can and can't have.
Good for you Todd for taking a stance on something that really should be a private rather than a government choice of what pets to own. As long as a pet doesn't carry disease, is harmful to the environment, and is properly cared for, the choice should be left to individuals.
Todd,
As you know...I love my pets....and I agree...I once had a ferret as well... :)
Weasel Dancing, I can now honestly say I've seen every fund raiser under the sun =)
What a great day to be alive Todd!
Paul
Todd whats with the new picture? I don't know if it's you or Tom Cruise.
Todd, how do you find the time? Is there anything there that you aren't involved in?
Had to stop by with that headline, Todd...i also support no kill shelters actively...my maine coon cat came from one...the local pet store i deal with just told me about this law- ugh...
I always thought that you were a little squirrelly. Now I see the error of my ways.
Todd - sometimes one voice can make a difference ..... especially if that one voice has a following
The event was awesome and earned a lot of money for the shelter and got me my first published photo.
