Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

With a little over a week left, don’t miss the 13th door! A Halloween tradition!

Some Halloween traditions aren’t for the faint of heart or young kids and this one is one of them. Though I missed it last year because of their move to a new location, this year I have found them again and I certainly won’t miss it.

Remember when you were a kid, Halloween was your day! Seems these people never grew up (or grow a day older) and they feel you shouldn’t either. Do you remember your first real scary haunted house you went to when you were a teenager? Remember the feeling you left with and all the fun you had with your friends?

The 13th Door - Haunted House in Beaverton, Oregon

I have to say the 13th door not only recreated that feeling for us adults, they have taken it to a whole new level of fright night! I love leaving the event laughing, heart pumping and really making me forget how old I really am and taking me back to the time when a group of us all got together and went to the local haunted house together.

Now, we get together as adults, leave our kids with the sitter and live out our youth even if for only one night laughing, being scared and just plain enjoying ourselves. If you and your friends are looking for a night of just good old fashioned fun that doesn’t have to involve alcohol, then I suggest you check out the 13th door and take a trip down memory lane and feel your heart race like it did when you were a teenager.

The 13th door is located at 8805 SW Canyon Road, Beaverton, Oregon and the cost is $15 to get in and I have to say it is worth every penny. Don’t forget to leave your kids at home as far as I’m concerned this isn’t one for the younger kids. If you have teenagers, go for it, they will have a blast. Check out their website at

Are there really 13 doors in this frightening Halloween tradition?

Todd-  Wow, that sounds so much fun.  Wish we had a scary haunted house here in Phoenix.  -Thanks for bringing me back through memory lane.

My first haunted house was truly frightening. I was too young to be taken in there. After putting my hand in a bowl of what I thought were worms (spaghetti) I was out of there. Have fun!

WHat a clever name for a haunted house. I do remember going to lots of haunted houses as a kid; I was always amazed by the work people put into them.

Todd - This sounds like a blast!  I LOVE HAUNTED HOUSES!  Always have since I was a kid.  I love getting scared, which is why I also love scary movies too.  Have a great weekend Todd.

Ginny, I just want to make sure everyone who goes to this understands as far as I'm concerned this is no place to take young kids.
