Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

What makes a good donut? Well clearly it takes a little Voodoo!

Have you ever wanted the best donut in the world? Well, after Saturday night, I have determined there are two ways to do it. One, you can either learn the evil art of Voodoo, get a deep fat fryer and learn how to make your own donuts or you can just come to Portland, Oregon and visit one of the two locations of the World Famous Voodoo Donuts.

Voodoo Donuts, Portland, Oregon

Now, these aren’t your regular donuts! They have the Voodoo donut which is a little donut that looks like a doll with a pretzel stick in it, then the have my personal favorite, the Memphis Mafia, a fried doughnut with banana chunks and cinnamon sugar covered in a glaze with chocolate frosting, peanut butter, peanuts and chocolate chips on top. (MMMMMMM)

This is far from your typical donut shop. Heck, you can get 3 dozen donuts delivered in a coffin for $100 and you get to keep the coffin afterwards. You want to see some amazing creations, check out their menu. This has been voted one of the top donut shops, and after enjoying that donut, I can see why!

But, if you do go, prepare for a long wait! We got there at 8pm on a Saturday night and the line was curved around the store and back out the door. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the counter to place our order. But, I do have to say it was worth every second!

Hi Todd, sounds wonderful - best donuts in my world are TatoNuts in Ocean Springs, MS.  Amazing.

No coffin delivery, though.

An amazing array of goodies, even some risque looking doughnuts!  To think a doughnut shop would have folks waiting in line for fifteen minutes sure speaks well for the product!  We wish we had half a line waiting to buy some of our inventory!

Other than finding out the next day when we went back that they have some donuts that aren't kid friendly, those dang things are  good.
