Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

Todd, how do you come up with so many blog ideas?

Well everyone, I'm giving away my secret to how I get some many blog ideas! The secret is open your eyes, look around, listen, and write down or record everything.

You see when ever I am talking to someone who has a question...Guess what? That is a blog post! If one person wants the answer, then others do also. I see something funny to me...Guess what? That is a blog post! I'm angry about something...Guess what? That is a blog post! I have a question...Guess what? Wrong! I search for other posts about that!

But, you get my point. There are great blog ideas all around us, you just need to recognize them as such. Life is full of things we can blog about, but you need to learn how to harness them and put them into words for the world to see.

You are an expert at something and people ask you questions everyday. If you can answer them in words, then transfer those words to your blog and start posting! I'm not really anyone special to come up with new blogs everyday, I have just learned to observe the world in a slightly different way, and you can too.

Jason - Had I not gotten four e-mails this week asking me how I come up with ideas, i wouldn't have written this one! I really don't mind, but I figure I would send my answer out to the masses.

Todd, One is never idea poor, what's difficult is getting the time and the focus to get out what's in our head... and our ever growing post-do list. Right now, it's about two weeks long... and it has been for some time now.

Am exhausted just thinking about it.

cheers

Todd, you are so on the mark!  As usual!  I had an amazing settlement today.  I'm celebrating.  As soon as I sober up, I'm going to write a blog about it.  Right now, the Breathalyzer on my computer won't let me.  Seriously, though, ideas are everywhere!  Thanks for the post.

Todd, I'm with you man. I was just telling TLW that today. All I have to do is wake up and have my first business conversation and I have blog fodder!!! I never run out of stuff to write about.

Todd, what exactly is a blog??? O.K. once again, I'm just kidding. BUT a lot of people don't knowor grasp the idea, so I could see why they just don't know what to write about. But you're completely right that we should blog about everything. And hey, if you can do it (with the help of your wife, of course) then anybody can! I love Patricia's comment. I need a breathalyzer on my computer because the little voice in my head that tells me not to say certain things surely is off when I've had a little wine (or margaritas). I have two pages of blog ideas written down. I'm just trying to find the time to write them!

Very true, you can turn pretty much any conversation into a blog...or so it appears from some I have read.

Aurelia - Hmmmm, that gives me a blog idea - lol

Gary - Buy a voice recorder that comes with voice recognition software for your computer. You say the post into the voice recorder and the software transcribes it for you. Then all you have to do is some minor edits and post away. Saves a lot of time!

Patricia - I'm worried that you haven't sobered up yet. I haven't seen that blog about your settlement - lol

Bryant - I was surprised by your wife even a couple months ago when she said she had writers block. I didn't think it was possible with Alligators in the back yard! That should be good for at least 4 or 5 posts.

Dale - We just have to open our eyes are realize it!

Rick - I would stop writing about the ducks at this point. Sad loss it was!

Mehmet - Hope it helps you in your blogs in the future!

Bridget - If you come up with an idea while driving and don't have a voice recorder. CALL YOURSELF and leave a message. When my wife is in the car, I've had her write down and idea or two for me, so I can drive. I'm lucky I don't drink despite what the content of my blogs says.

Ilyce - I look at this way, if one person is asking so our others. One more client could be waiting for the answer before deciding who to hire.

Kathy - Yes, my wife proof reads every blog of mine! She doesn't proof read my comments, but she should sometimes. Thanks for the mime one; she wasn't so sure on that one herself. That is one of the ones she was shaking her head on when she got done with it.

Lupe - Hope it gets you many more blogs in the future. Just listen and look, they are truly everywhere.

Tony - I think a blog is just an extension of our selves and if we can pass on our knowledge to others through our blogs, then it also saves us time. A client isn't on the phone. You can tell 25 clients a day the answer to the same question and not get a thing done, but if 25 people read your blog. You have spent 20 minutes telling 25 people the same thing.
