Halloween is here, what haunted house stories do you have?

I love Halloween and spend a lot of money to scare teenagers. (I try not to scare little kids.) But, this time of year you hear on the news of haunted houses and other strange things happening in houses.

Queen Ann Victorian Mansion

My story comes back from my days as a DJ. It was a warm summer night and we were about to do the tossing of the bouquet from an upper balcony of the Queen Ann Victorian Mansion in Portland and the bride was standing next to me when the bride got hit by her bouquet from the balcony above.

Now, we were 15 feet from the balcony, so to throw it would have been a good shot anyway, but the fact that this is the bride's changing room, and the only one who has a key is the caretaker, who was 5 feet from us and the bride, made it even weirder. She ran upstairs and was there within 30 seconds and people downstairs said they didn't see anyone enter or leave the room and when she got up there, the room was locked still.

The box that was on the bed with the bouquet was sitting on the bed opened and she didn't do it! I've heard in the past that the mansion was haunted, but never believed it, until that day. Rumor has it that the last time the home sold, the seller asked if they had to disclose on the disclosure forms that the house was haunted.

Back before Real Estate I use to work on the Queen Mary in Long Beach Ca.  I worked in catering and the wedding chapel...I never had any personal experiences with ghosts...but rumor was there were many wandering though the hallways of the old ship.  We did have a weird experience in a house we used to own but that's for another blog :)

My girlfriend and I just put our decorations for Halloween Phase 1. Phase 2 is coming next weekend. It's not truly a haunted house, but it is clearly in the spirit of Halloween.

Spooky halloween house

Ryan - Great story.  Wish I had something as interesting to contribute.  I've had "feelings" about houses in the past, but never anything tangible.  I've sold numerous homes where people have died in the home, but have never had anything creepy happen.

I haven't yet SOLD a haunted house?  At least I don't think I have?  However, I have noticed plenty of ORBS in many of my photos especially in the older homes that I have listed.  I recently brought this up to a group of other agents and they just started laughing!  I respect the spirits in the homes because you NEVER KNOW!  I think it's always better to be nice and stay on their good side if they exist!
