Home Depot birthday parties are fun for everyone and they are FREE!

Home DepotFor my daughters 9th birthday she gave me a gift. She wanted a party that ended up costing .50 in gas and $1.92 in cupcakes. How did this happen? Well, have you ever heard of Home Depot's Kid's Workshops that they have every few Saturdays?

Kids of all ages welcomeHome Depot also offers their Kid's Workshops to parents as a Birthday Party and it is completely free! They set up the table have people there to help the kids build a variety of things. (Bird house, Racing car, Fire truck, Tool box or a Plane.) You can have as few as two kids all the way up to 350! And as Home Depot put it "You can bring anyone from one to two hundred and one years old, everyone is welcome"

The kids each get a Home Depot apron with their name on it, a pin of the item they made, and then get to take the item home with them to show off to friends and family.

So if you are looking for an inexpensive Birthday party for your kids that they and their friends will be talking about for a long time, then give Home Depot a call. I can also tell you as a parent, I had fun watching and helping the kids build things also. The smiles were well worth it.

I have some cousins who throw birthday parties for their kids at Chuckee Cheeze and invite the whole family.  I'm going to suggest a change of venue for their next one!  And very cute daughter!

Todd, that is a fantastic idea, do they do it for 50 year olds too ?? Seriously, my kids are older but I will pass this on.

Neat-I didn't know about this.  Our daughter is not quite 2 and is so in love with tools...She even knows how to use a screwdriver.  She'd love this kind of party and I wouldn't have to clean up.  Thanks for the info.

Todd - These photos are priceless!  What a wonderful birthday idea.  It reminds me of when I was a little girl.  Mom gave me abride doll and dad gave me a Handy Andy Tool Kit.  I still have a few pieces from the tool kit that I still use --- the bride doll was seldom used and eneded up heaven knows where!  What a proud Daddy you must be.

I agree, what a great Marketing tool for them, and fun for the kids.  How in the world did you only spend $1.92 for cupcakes :)

I love this idea! It looks like your daughter had a great party. My birthday is the next one in the bunch; I think I'm going to seriously have my party at Home Depot!

Todd - That a great idea!  I might have to bring my kids to Home Depot for their next birthday party.  It seems like a nice change from video games and the couch.  I can't wait to share this story with my clients!

How cool is that?  Love the photobucket, Todd--great pictures...why couldn't you have come up with this, like, ten years ago?  I don;t think my daughter will go for a Home Depot party for her eighteenth...

Debbie - It truly was a blast for everyone! Kids are still talking about it and want to go again.

Patricia - Thanks for the comments about my daughter. Chucky Cheese $192.00 vs Home Depot $1.92 it was a very happy day for me!

Missy - They said all ages! So if you are a kid at heart go for it.

Fran - Promise anyone who you share this with will love you! Parents love almost free when it comes to birthday parties!

Carolyn - They will love you! We came across it by accident and so glad we did!

Jennifer - Not me, when we called we were expecting them to tell us it was going to be like $15 a child.

Jennifer - The let kids of all ages, my daughter in the picture is thre and didn't have a problem at all!

Jonathan - Every other Saturday I think.

Marlene - That was my wife! I can't opperate a hammer or any other tool aparently. I was made to be a supervisor or business owner. Hard labor and me don't mix very well.

Roberta - The price was more than right!

Dan - Feel free to share all you want!

Candy - Sometimes exciting, sometimes not so much. With the good comes the bad. I try to share only the good.

Kathy - 1 box of cake mix .89, a thing of cup cake holders .50 and another .56 cents for home made frosting!

Linda - The problem is she knows!

Bridget - You go for it!

Derrick - If you Home Depot does it, I promise the kids will love you!

Todd - I bet if you set it up with Home Depot they would let you do that with your complete data base of clients!

Sal - I'm not a big fan of the new video games and this gets them out of my house - lol

Loretta - My first daughter wasn't born yet - sorry!

Thanks for the info. My son will be 9 in June. Maybe I can talk him into that party instead of the pricey Lazer Tag that he is begging for.

This is a great, and more importantly, different idea. The crafts are treasured in many different ways: I still remember making some when I was three, and my dad still has every one I ever made him. So, everyone truly wins.

Love this tip. I had no idea they did birthday parties! My son's is next month. I'll call them tomorrow to see if I can set it up. Thanks!

Looking through your tags I saw "fun for kids" and couldn't resist.... we are always looking for ideas for our kids. And a FREE birthday party!? That is unbelievable!  Thank you for sharing! We are definatley calling our local store about this!

Thank you so much for this idea.  We have been trying to figure out something different to do for my sons 4th birthday and he loves tools, and what a great price for todays economy - free.  The Home Depots in my area have never done this before, but found one that was more than happy to give it a try.  They sound just as excited as I am, and my son can't wait.  Thanks Again!!

Posted by Christine - Massachusetts about 3 years ago

Michelle - This is so much better and you can participate.

Danielle - My kids still play with the feild goal ones they made and the birds nests had their first residences this last spring.

Charity - It will be a blast for him... PROMISE!

The Dunn Team - Your clients and your kids will love this... Especially in this economy.

Christine - I think my son was about 4 when we started doing this and I don't think we have done anything else since this. He is now 7, so the cost savings is about $600, can't argue with that.

Hi Todd,I wonder is they are still doing this with the economy as it is. I am 4 years late, since you posted this terrific fun idea. I searched 4th birthday and your blog came up. I will be calling Home Depot in morning for my grandson's coming birthday in August.

My son LOVES Home Depot and the Kid's Workshops.  I called our local Home Depot (in San Antonio) and was told, "No, we don't do birthday parties."  I explained that we would love to come on the first of the month, when the workshops are held, and stay later for cake (which I will provide).  I was told that we could use the training room and it looks like it is a possibility!!  Would love to know what city you are in!
