Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

Thank you for my FREEDOM!

Never forget

Lately I have been seeing lots of protests and even heard of one protester asking why we should give vets who got injured during war money, but not him. Well, let me tell you why! Because the soldier got injured protecting your freedom to say stupid things like that! They got injured doing their job, yes job, something you can’t get because you are high on drugs and have tattoos all over your face.

That veteran sacrificed for us and we should support him, you on the other hand have done nothing for this country and expect everything. Today, I thank each and every vet, alive and dead as you all make this great country what it is and hopefully always will be… FREE!

It all goes back to the "me first" mentality. Those protesters have little grasp on reality and what they do grasp center on THEM. THEY are the most important thing in the world.

Priorities are really skewed when Vets are not being honored for their service and denied medical care for injuries received in the line of duty. It is sad. Our Military, teachers, firemen and police should be the highest paid and given the most help. They are cumulatively responsible for our National Security, Home Security and our future.

Hi true, the young today need to research the history of our Vets, many gave their lives so he can protest. So many before us who served their country never got to have a family, own a home, go shopping online or Blog.

Thanks  and Double Thanks to our Vets

I would have no time for a protester complaining about aid to an active duty or anyone injured in the armed forces. Some how I think he might get hurt protesting if he were in my world. Many thanks to all active duty and anyone who served in the armed forces. Thanks ofr keeping us safe. Happy Veterans Day!

Providing money for the veteran is the least we can do in exchange for their unselfish services. We thank them for all their courage and sacrifices.

Great Blog, Todd!  It's so sad that people still feel entitled when they have done nothing to earn it!

I think it's time to reinstitute the draft. Far too few are giving too much for their country. No more free rides.

Indeed yes! We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to those that have served our country. Infact, I'm all for giving veteran's more benefits (instead of less)...

Todd, There will always be those who do not apprecicate what Veterans have done for them, I am thankful every day to be able to make the choices I do. Freedom is not free as some naysayers would like to think.

There are a lot of dummies out there.  Obviously the person you are quoting is one of them.  They are so dumb they don't even realize how dumb they sound.  Our injured vets need to be taken care of by those of us that are being protected.

Many of those protesters are veterans, some of them are recently back from Afghanistan.  They are largely unemployed too, and so many programs have been cut that they can't even get the help they need.  I don't think it's appropriate to call the protesters names or belittle what they are going through just because one of them said something dumb.

The 2 mind-sets are diametrically opposed...

One for all, possibly sacrificing themselves... or all for me just because I think I deserve it, to the exclusion of others.

Hopefully, we have more who understand "balance" moving forward.

Todd-Love your profile pic, by the way!

My Dad spent many years behind one of those...including one of Nolan Ryan's no hitters in Anaheim '74 against the Orioles. I have a large litho on my office wall of Dad (Hank) "punching-out" Bobby Grich on Nolan's last pitch of the game.

Best to you!

You are right on target here.......I remember visiting the former East Block and being amazed at how people lived there.
