I know it may sound strange, but more pets are lost during a move than at any other time. They get used to their home, just as you do. But, they feel stress and may feel the need to run away and try to get back home. They don't realize that you have moved, they want to get back to what they know.
So, before you move, please put a microchip in your pets and tell the new owner of your home where you are moving to, just in case Fido escapes and tries to go back home or what he or she thinks is home.
Another useful tip for moving with pets is, once you are at your new location, keep them locked in the house with you for two to three weeks until they are used to the new surroundings and realize that this is home.
You may not think you are stressed about a move, but Fido does and whatever you are feeling, they feel about 10 times as much, because they really do care.
Keep your family together during your next relocation and take care of those pets.

Todd,
Good point! We took several items from our old home, blankets, toys, pillows, etc., and placed them around our new home...it gave our pet a feeling of 'home' until she got adjusted to her new surroundings! Thanks, Fran
Hey Todd, the only pet I have is my hubby. ;-)
Seriously though, this is a great idea to share with your customers. Great information to put on your website and/or blog.
Todd:
This is great advice. It really works too. Pets are people too.
Danny - I'm glad you were able get them comfortable with that many dogs.
Fran - Great idea, I hadn't thought of that one.
Steve - Do you mean like putting them in a kennel for few days?
Teri - We get stressed out also, can I suggest cookies!
Alan - I've been trying for years to convince my daughters cat it is not a people, but I think I'm losing that battle.
Roberta - That is good advice, especially as you are about to move.
Steve - Thanks, didn't think of that.
