Day one of vacation, we may be spending it in a blanket

My family and I decided to take a small vacation to the Oregon coast to go camping. When we planned this in February, we thought for sure it would be a lot warmer and dryer than it is on day one.

The latest snow fall ever recorded on the Oregon coast was in mid April 1956 and guess what it is doing here, right now, as we are camping!

Yep, snowing! Here is a picture, the Oregon coast is still beautiful, but I was hoping for about 20 degrees warmer!

That happened to us one year when we went to Colorado.  It was June.  We thought it would be much warmer than it was, but we still had a great time!  :)

Debi - This is our second time of something like this. Last time my wife and I went to Lake Tahoe in December hoping for snow and for the first time in 20 years on December 12th, the ground was completely dry, until the day after we left then they got 2 feet!

Sandra - You should come here, it really is great...Despite not getting what we planned.

Bonnie - Oh, we are having fun! We drove to town, picked up some games and another space heater and all is well now!

Monika - We are in a yurt with electricy! That really helps, the first night though the heater wasn't working right, couldn't get it above 45 degrees. But all is well now, we have it up to about 70.

I know what you mean.  We went to Florida once on vacation and the temperature was in the 40's with a cold rain...Ha!  I guess it happens to all of us...  :)

Todd - Your weather up there is crazy... my parents still live on Whidbey Island where I grew up, we rarely had snow let alone in April..

Bridget and I just went to the coast a few weeks ago. I found this nice little store in Florence that has an amazing assortment of micro brews, she somehow managed to find a jewelery store...odd, I know...haha

Ohh . . . the Pacific Northwest. We lived in WA state - Fidalgo Island - for 15 years. You can only count on August being warm (and warm is a relative thing). I vividly remember my first 4th of July there - we watched the fireworks in down jackets. Pretty wild for a girl from Florida! But . . . what a gorgeous part of the world. Like Rick says - buy a jacket an hit the mirco brews!

Great timing, Todd. :)  Just wrap up real tight and fix some hot chocolate.  That cool air is good for your circulation. LOL
