Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

Smile for the camera before you go to jail!

Recently I took a listing along a street in a very nice neighborhood, but something has been happening to my signs, they come up missing everyday! Now, I would say it was a neighbor trying to sell their house, but the three other agents signs don't seem to disappear. (Two belong to one agent and one belongs to another lady in her office.)

I've had my signs cut up, thrown in the blackberries and just plain disappear and on a daily basis. Now, where these signs disappear from there is a dip in the road, so no one could see you take them, but the one on the major roads seem to stay in place....HMMMM, weird huh!

Well, to the person who is taking them, I now have paid a teenager a nice wage of $1,000 if he catches, on film, the car and the person who is taken them and I will press charges. I will also go after your license if you are another agent and are taking my signs to keep me from selling my client's house.

I would like to think times have not gotten so desperate for agents, but when my signs are the only ones being taken and only one other company has signs up in the area that never seem to come down, what am I supposed to think? I'll find out soon enough and I promise I will give these pictures to the local news at the same time I give them to the police, so the neighborhood can find out who they live next to, or if it is an agent who they hired!

So, to whoever is stealing my signs, smile for the camera!

That is pretty low for someone to stel your signs. I wish you luck in finding the person taking them.

I hope you make an example of that individual.  That fact that the other agents signs aren't disappearing is highly suspicous.  Getting them on camera is the best way to go.

TC,

I was going to suggest buying one of those cameras used to photograph deer and other animals moving about in the area...you would have to hide it somehow, but the shutter is set off by movement in the area...or bury a gps chip in one of your signs...! Good luck! Thanks,   Fran

Todd ~ I hope you (and the teen you hired) catch whoever is doing it.  If it is another agent, how very unprofessional.

Good luck to ya.  Maybe you could do a coyote and road runner thing and attach it to a big bear track that will attache to the person's leg when they pull the sign out.

Good for you - 'I'm mad and I'm not going to take it anymore!'

Pretty cheap shot to take your signs.

There is another way of catching them 24 hours a day.  Get one of the motion sensor cameras for catching wildlife pictures as they will also do night shots.  Motion activates and if you set it correctly the only thing it will photograph is whoever gets close to your signs.  Go get em and let the rest of the world know after you clear it with police and lawyer so you don't mess up their court date.

I know just how you feel.  I have a listing in a neighborhood where my former partner lives.  3 signs, not directionals, but expensive for sale signs have gone missing.  I've lost count of the directionals.  It's frustrating as I pay for them myself.

Good for you Todd. Not long aog we had one of our signs taken off of the sign post. Right out of the front yard. Good luck to you!

That's pretty low alright.  Good luck catching the little son of a gun. I certainly hope you nail the little bugger.

Jesse, just a quick questions... you are stealing the signs, are you?  You can tell me here, I promise not to tell anyone.

Good luck on this one Todd.  I've had Open House signs disappear and I know how frustrating it can get.  Not to mention the cost involved.  Have a great day.

Shaun - I hope I do, because it is getting to cost me about $50 a week to replace those dang things!

Michael - I am livid and that is why I'm paying the kid to keep watch for me! I'm going to do it tomorrow morning myself, but if I don't catch them I hope he does...It will be well worth my money!

Randy - That is what I think also, why doesn't the other agents disappear, only mine?

Fran - I like the bury the GPS idea, but sometimes they are just pulling it out of the ground and throwing it in the bushes! But, how much does that camera cost? I'm guessing it is over the $1,000 I'm willing to spend to arrest this person.

Kathy - If it is another agent, I'm going after their license and then I'm having my clients sue them for mortgage payments paid while on the market, interest rate hikes and anything else we can think of!

Ace - OK, that would be funny...I may have to make a cartoon some how of that!

I keep losing signs on a piece of land, seems its a hot motorbike area, and the kids dont want the land developed.  I am on sign #6 now.

Hi Todd - Sorry to hear this is happening to you, but I'm really looking forward to the follow-up post when you catch them. Even better (if it's someone connected with the other company) is if the three sellers withdraw or expire, and relist with you for a quick sale!

Todd- I too have had some signs disappear, and then recently they were just bereaking them.  I have now gone to metal signs..........I hope if someone is taking them you catch them.  I too paid the neighbor kids, but not to film, but to watch them.
