If you don't have to go out and try to sell homes, snow can be a lot of fun. Since today is Christmas Eve, I certainly don't plan to go out and sell homes! So, today the family had some fun in our very unusual weather. We did what we call Snow Art!
Snow Art is created by taking empty spray bottles and filling them with water and food coloring and making different colors of water and then spraying the snow making art! You and your kids can draw anything you want in the snow and the only thing stopping you is your imagination.
Despite the humor that I saw in the picture above, my son really wasn't doing what it looks like he was doing above. (He has the spray bottle in his hands.)
Here is some of the artwork from today. Now go out and create your own and please come back and share your artwork with us.

Todd- Glad you described how your son wrote his name ;-)
Todd, You scared me for a minute! I thought I was going to have to assist you with a disclaimer
DON'T EAT THE YELLOW SNOW!
Merry Christmas and enjoy your time with your children.
Me too. I was sure there was another colored water delivery method.... Thanks for clarifying!
well, you know i had to laugh when i saw the first picture as i was thinking what absolutely everyone else was thinking. but, when i read the post i understood. what a GREAT idea!
Todd, Enjoy the snow with your children... Have a Merry Christmas! And remember not to eat yellow snow!!..... Wasn't that a Zappa song?
Hi Todd... You crack me up! Thanks for a good laugh on that first pic of your son! Merry Christmas, I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday!
Todd
That picture is a classic. Happy Holidays to you

Todd, you know that if you wouldn't have added the pics with the other colors it looked like we we call "yellow snow." Glad to hear that you and your family are enjoying this unusual but beautiful weather we are having. I can't believe that it is still snowing outside. Scott and I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season with all of the joy and love that it brings. (but we are still advising you not to eat yellow snow).
: )
That looks like great fun. We don't have snow in San Antonio so we don't know all the cool tricks. And I was guilty of thinking your son wrote his name with something else :S
Todd - Here in Florida, we call it sand art. I must admit your kids' snow art is very creative and fun to do. I did eat snow in my time when I was a child - food coloring would have really made it very interesting.
Merry Christmas and have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year 2009
Todd - I was going to say the same Sara said above. I will always remember that and tell that to my 8-yr-old too :). Happy Holidays. ~Rita
I am so glad you explained what snow art is! Before I scrolled down to read on, all I saw was your little boy with some yellow letters in the snow! you can imagine how "relieved" I was when I scrolled down!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
All the best in 2009.
I'm glad you clarified what your son used to write his name! LOL
It looks like fun, but I think we'd need snow here in So. Cal. first.
Merry Christmas!
TC,
LOL, I've never heard IT referred to as a 'spray bottle' before!!! Still LOL, Thanks, Fran
P.S. Merry Christmas!!!
Todd, I had my doubts for at least 2 pictures. Great fun!!!LOL
Todd that picture of your son is too funny!!! It looks like you and your family had an awesone day.
80 degrees in Florida today.
Have a Merry Christmas!!!
Todd - a very creative way to help your kids enjoy the snow, Merry Christmas.
Todd, what a great idea! You're either very imaginative or grew up where it snowed. ;-) I'm unaccustomed to snow, but the next time it does snow, I'll do some snow art and share. ;-)
Merry Christmas Todd...;-)
Todd, you have to watch out with the yellow food coloring and snow! It looks like Willie the Hyperactive Labrodoodle puppie was there!
Hope you and your family had a fabulous Christmas!
Great pics. Cute kids. Merry Christmas!
Todd,
I was thinking when I saw the first pic, "He's not doing what I think he's doing, is he?" Thanks for explaining what we were looking at. ;-)
I love it...I'll teach my kids the same now that you've shown me how....however, my kids still like doing it the way you implied. We live in the country and our favorite kidism...."watch out where those huskies go...don't you eat that yellow snow."
Hey...not to be redundant...I showed my kids your pictures. They said that your kids were peeing in the snow. I said no and showed them the water bottles. They want to do it here. It's been between -9 and 5 for the last week. Today it's 56. It's so gross, but hey.....no snow painting today.
Marilyn - I just couldn't resist the picture, it was just too easy to take!
Sara - No, I wouldn't allow my son to do that in the front yard.
Betina - But, yellow was the color of choice and how could I say no. OK, my daughter wanted yellow so she could make the sun.
Leesa - That is exactly why I posted the picture, I wanted to prove everyone else was as sick as me. You claim to be innocent, but then everyone of you jumped to conclusions - ROFL
Colleen - You are correct! I have to admit I have that in my record collection, but here is the Youtube link to the song.
What a great dad you are, spending time with your son in the snow.
Double take on the first picture! We don't have any snow here in Mesquite, but what a great idea for my grandkids when we take them to the snow.
