Living Beaverton - Your guide to everything Beaverton

I love a good compliment, but I didn’t mean to get you in trouble

Photo courtesy of svilen001I got a call today from a client that said she was called in to her boss's office because of me! What? How could I get you in trouble? I've never met your boss. I'm sure he is a nice guy, but you bought the house 5 months ago. 6 months ago I could have understood you getting called in with all the phone calls, e-mails, and faxes you received from me during that time... But, now, how could I possibly be getting you in trouble with your boss?

Well, it seems that she loves reading my posts so much that she had put an RSS feeder on her desktop and was spending way too much time on my blog and website reading my posts about my family, real estate, and just following real estate trends rather than working.

Now, she swears that she was only doing this on her break, but the boss decided that she needed to delete the RSS feeder and blocked Activerain from the company internet, so now she can't read my posts until she gets home.

OH, THE HUMANITY! Have I become a banned substance at work? I guess I should be happy that she enjoys reading my stuff enough to put an RSS feeder on her desktop, but maybe I should send her boss a card saying, "I'm sorry for stealing your worker for 10 minutes a day, maybe if you read my blog, you would understand why she does!"

While you are writing that card to her boss, don't forget to ask him if he knows anyone who is thinking of buying or selling a home!

Todd, your life must be way more interesting than mine. Guess I'll have to subscribe to your blog too.

Hi Todd ~ That is too much! I always worry about my clients spending too much time at work searching for real estate but to get your client called into the office for reading your blog - wow! Way to go!

Maybe you have started something. People here will no longer look at points, you can put little hash marks down for Companies Banned From or ask fellow bloggers "well, how many companies have banned YOUR blog?"! :-)

I think that you should send the boss some flowers and maybe a box of chocolates as a bribe.  Oh don't to forget to put your blog address on the card..

Todd, There may be many others doing the same thing , waiting to be caught. You might be in more trouble  or should I say more people will be in trouble.

LOL That funny. I think more people do this than bosses know. She may need to just buy a new blackberry or I phone.

Todd, here is a way to have your cake and promote it too, how about a web enabled cell phone as a closing gift, with your feed preloaded. I'm sure ..clients would share (pass around) your blog off the company mainframe, with co-workers?

What a nice complement that even after the sale she is still interested in what you have to say. I say sneak into bosses office and subscribe him so he can see what its all about, maybe you will get another sale! Keep smiling!

Todd, it's great news for you, but you might have upset your clients boss.  Who knows, now that the boss knows of your blog, you may have gained a new secret follower, just not at work or during work hours.
