Beaverton Oregon Relocation: Where can we take our pets?

One of the biggest questions I get by families relocating to Beaverton, Oregon, who have dogs is, “Todd, where can we take our pets? Our temporary apartment (or hotel) won’t allow pets.”

Well, until a couple weeks ago, I didn’t really have any good answers for that question. I didn’t have anyone I knew speak highly of a place until one client, who was moving to Beaverton, Oregon from California, needed to have a place to keep her little dog Ginger.

Ginger was a small dog, and she was her family. The place she was staying while looking for a property didn’t allow pets. She searched high and low and found a place just outside Beaverton, in Tigard, called 4 Paws Dog Daycare and Cageless Boarding.

4 Paws Dog Daycare & Boarding

Now, when I went there with her to pick up her little Ginger, I have to say I was impressed. A place for pets that didn’t believe in little 2 x 3 foot cages for dogs 18 hours a day. This place really showed the love for the dogs and all the dogs were playing with each other. Much to my surprise, and my Virginia (my client), her dog didn’t want to go! I’ve had to take dogs to many kennels in my time, but when I get there the dogs have always beat down the door and were to the car before I could be, they couldn’t wait to go home!

This place was different and we knew it. I had found my place where I was going to send people who needed to keep a dog if they were either relocating, going on vacation for a couple weeks, or the dog just needs a place to stay for the day. Check out 4 Paws. You can read more about them at www.4pawsdogdaycare.com or give them a call at 503-639-8897 and set up an appointment to check out their facility.

Your dog will thank you!

Good thing you found a quality place for your client's pets--I've been known to "cat-sit" on two separate occasions while my homebuyers were in escrow waiting to close. Shhhh, better keep that quiet!

Hi Todd -  Excellent post.  For many, moving with a pet can be a very traumatic experience.  It sounds like 4 Paws is a great solution in the Portland area.

You get so many people that shop for yards for there pets above the home features. So they ne3ed nice facilities to house them while vacationing ETC. I have a great one close by.

Todd,

This sounds like a great place for our little four legged friends.  It is amazing tho how quick they become a member of the family and how well they are cared for.

This is big business Todd.   My cousin owns a boarding kennel in Michigan, and they do very well.

Todd,

What a neat place!  I will have to pass this info on to my clients with pets.  Thanks!

This has sprung up around here as well....seems lucrative to have this sort of business.

Todd ,  We seem to have the same problems here in the NW. Good service providers are hard to find and in most cases like this, don't result in a conflict of interest...

Pat - I'm not sure I could do that, but I guess I would have to do it on a case by case basis. Our cat doesn't play well with others!

Lynn - This is a great place and the dogs seem to love it!

Marlene - So many places aren't pet friendly and that is really a shame when we have so many moving here.

Laura - Finding one that was cageless was more difficult than I thought.

Sounds like a place I would let my dogs stay in.  Even if I wasn't on vacation and just needed my home to myself.  Just kidding.

Don - I think some of these places are just out to make money, this place seems to actually care for the dogs.

Zane - I think the animals really enjoyed having a playmate.

John - Hopefully they treat the dogs as wells as this place does!

Seraina - Feel free, I think your clients with pets will appreciate it

Larry - I would hope they are doing it because the love animals and not because it is profitable.

Paul - I agree finding people you can count on and don't mind recommending are very hard to find.

Fran - It is so sad to take your family friend to a glorified prison for dogs and then say "Bye, see you in a couple weeks" Wouldn't do that to Grandma, so why would you do it to your pets.

Angelia - ROFL! You might be licked to death if that happens.
